The three P's of the Diabetes include ;
* Polydipsia ( increased thirst )
* Polyphagia ( increased appetite )
* Polyuria ( increased urinary frequency )
Pathophysiology of polydipsia:
When the blood glucose level become increases ,kidney produce more amount of urine inorder to remove the extra glucose from the body .This causes frequent loss of fluid through urination .The the brain cell gives the signal to replace the fluid volume .This leads to the development of excessive thirst .
Pathophysiology of polyphagia:
When the blood glucose level increases,due to insulin resistance or low level of insulin , it distrub the body's ability to transfer the glucose present in the food to energy .Thus the intake of food increases the glucose level without a corresponding increase in energy and gives the sensation of excessive appetite or polyphagia .
pathophysiology of polyuria :
When there is an excess blood glucose level , the body try to remove the excess amount of glucose through urine .this makes the kidney to filter more amount of water and leads to frequent urination or polyuria.
