1. Define the term “globalization” and explain how advances in information technology have stimulated globalization. Describe recent events that provide evidence of globalization.
2. What is “the digital divide?” Describe the two fundamentally different dimensions of the digital divide.

Answer: Globalisation is a buzz word mainly defined in economic terms, a process of interaction and integration of people, products, governments all over the world.

In general terms it is used as increased flow of products,services, communication and information, job and cultures across the geographical borders.

2.Advances in IT and communication has stimulated the pace of globalization for sure because it has increased the reach of people without changing their positions physically.

Use of internet,computers,witeless technologies, increased digitalisation.They all have improved the services and increased the reach of communications for individuals.

Example use of Social networking sites are the perfect example where person sitting in one part of world can know exactly what is going on anywhere else.

3.There are various examples which provide evidences of globalisation:

1.Take the example of MNCs operating and outsourcing their works to other companies, but this a common example.

2.Another one is increased flow of culture,people hence associated problem with them also from one to other part.

Not to look far,COVID 19 outbreak in wuhan and its spread in more than 100 countries.Now called a pandemic is also a result of globalization.

4.Digital divide is term used to explain a gap of use of technology among people i.e. it shows gap between demography and regions that have access of IT and communication and those don't have such access.

It exist inter country as well as intra country also.like North-South digital divide as well as rural urban digital divide.

5.Two fundamentally different dimensions of digital divide are:

1.digital divide on international scale:like divide between developed and developing countries,its access and penetration.

2.Digital divide and Social inequalities:it also shows the divide among rich and poor.Those who reap benefit of it become more developed than others.How ever in other dimensions it xan be used to reduce poverty by increasung skills and education of digital literacy among poors.
