1>Every attitude has three components. This can be explained using the ABC model of attitudes: A for affective, B for behavioral, and C for cognitive. The affective component refers to the emotional reaction one has toward an object. The behavioral refers to the way one behaves when exposed to an attitude object. The cognitive component of attitudes refers to the beliefs, thoughts, and attributes that we would associate with an object.
2> Behaviour follows attitude. We behave the way we feel, think and belief. It can be pointed out that the attitude a person holds determines what he will do. The more specific the attitude and the more specific the behavior, the stronger is the link between the two. This idea was backed by early researchers who noted that attitude is causally related to behavior.
3>The major job attitudes can be classified into- Job Satisfaction- A positive feeling about one’s job resulting from an evaluation of its characteristics. Job Involvement- The degree to which people identify psychologically with their jobs and consider their perceived performance level important to self-worth. Organizational Commitment- A state in which an employee identifies with a particular organization and its goals and wishes to maintain membership in the organization
4>Job Satisfaction can mean a positive feeling about a job. There are two widely used approaches is to measuring this attitude - Single Global Rating Method- This method uses responses to a short series of general questions about the job to determine job satisfaction. Surprisingly, this simple method seems to be a more accurate measure of job satisfaction than the more complex summation method. Summation Score Method- This method identifies key elements in the job and asks for the employee’s feelings about each element. Respondents answer on a standardized scale and their responses are tallied to create an overall job satisfaction score.
5>Review of the evidence and research has identified several factors conducive to high levels of employee job satisfaction. Interesting jobs that provide training, variety, independence, and control satisfy most employees. Job satisfaction is not just about job conditions. Personality also plays a role. Research has shown that people who have positive core self-evaluations are more satisfied with their jobs. Other factors include compensation and benefits factors, nature of Work, relationship with supervisor and colleagues etc.
