For this assignment, you will write a procedural text on how to carryout a database search pertaining to a relevant global issue.

What is a procedural text?

A procedural text informs your audience how to do something using simple, step-by-step instructions

Your procedural text must include the following:

1) Title [1 mark]

• What is the expected outcome of this procedural piece? (ie. How to Carryout a Database Search on…..)

2) Goal [1 mark]

• State what will happen at the end

3) Series of Steps [8 marks]

• List what needs to be done to attain your goal in logical order.
• Be sure to keep instructions specific, short, simple and to the point.
• Use formal language
• Use present tense

4) Locate/identify 3 different resources [6 marks]

• (Example) a newspaper article, journal article and a documentary.
• Be sure that all sources are references in adherence to APA formatting
• Be sure that the sources you identify actually relate to your topic!

5) Strategically placed images [3 marks]

• If you find that something needs further elaboration, a good idea is to insert a screenshot of what you are referring to!

6) Conclusion [3 marks]

• Your conclusion should be a short paragraph that includes the following key points:
  • Reflection on any challenges you encountered
  • Any tips or advice you can offer to make the database search easier and more effective for your audience
