Solutions

Expert Solution

1) The procedure I am conducting is checking the cholestrol level by usin a device called Cardiocheck plus. This device helps to know the lipids resultsfaster than a normal blood test. This is one of the fastest and usefriendly and cost efficient method.

2) Here for the procedure

  • After keeping all the things ready, switch on the device.
  • Insert the Strips for the lipid panel and the glucose strip
  • Clean the finger with an alcohol swab and prick the finger witha lancet.
  • First drop of blood to be filled into the glucose strip, until the device shows beating heart  icon and then the capillary tube to be filled for the lipid test
  • When the device shows drop icon use the filled capillary tube to be applied into the blood application window.
  • The results will be displayed in 2 minutes time.
  • Discard the lancet and the test strips used.

3) As per the screening results, LDL is 135mg/dl and HDL is 50 mg/dl.

That is both the results shows more than the normal limits. The normal limits of LDL is below 100 is optimal level and from 100 to 129 mg/dl is near optimal. here is result is 135 mg/dl hence it is above normal but not at high risk.

HDL noral limit is below 40mg/dl and the results shows it is slightly higher than  the normal limits.

The risk factors for the above mentioned patient is

He is obese and not active physically. He is also a smoker. The patient needs to do some excercises daily and should have a strict diet control. It will be better if he can try to quit smoking.

He needs to consult a Doctor to know more about his condtion and also to know when he needs to take medications.
