I need a lesson plan for preschool children age 4-5 about how to count numbers until the 20.
If the topic is numbering, I need descriptions. Farming Theorist & Concept. For example one of Piaget's theory with one source and what is the Outcomes and I need an assessment plan.
There are various ways through which we can teach a student of age 4-5 years to count until 20. Some of the techniques could include which could include in a lesson plan for preschool children:
Activity 1:
Rote counting
A most basic skill to teach a 4-5year old student could be Rote counting. Students are asked to recite numbers from 0-20 from whatever they remember. A variety of movement related activities are incorporated as it includes lots of recall and repetition via verbal means of counting.
Activity 2:
Tossing a ball
A group of students are asked to stand in circles. The student must orally say the number out loud and pass the ball to the other student. The student who catches the ball has to speak out the second consecutive number. Eg: the student who starts says '1' and the person who catches the ball next says '2'. This process has to go on until they reach to the maximum number. In this case 20.
Activity 3:
Clapping or Singing
This activity could include announcing the numbers starting from 1 until 20 loudly per clap.Repeating the entire series would create a ryhthm and motivate students to recite the numbers.
Activity 4:
Counting Blocks
Ask the student to lay a number of blocks in a straight line. Secondly, ask them to call out the 1st number with the starting block, 2nd number with the next block and go on until the last block. Once they reach the last block, ask them to repeat the series by counting the blocks again.
Activity 5:
Number identification
In some children (eg: autistic), if we ask them to identify a certain number by showing flash cards, they might have difficulty identifying it. They start counting series of numbers until they reach the correct number. The steps would include display of flash cards with a number written on it serially from 1 - 20, wherever the student has difficulty saying the number, the student has too repeat the number 5 times unless he identifies the number correctlly. Then move forward until the goal is achieved.
