Answer: Fever is not a disease, it is a response of our immune system tot he foreign invaded particles or infections. The mechanism of fever appears to be a defensive reaction by the body against infectious disease. When bacteria or viruses invade the body and cause tissue injury, one of the immune system's responses is to produce pyrogens.

Benefits of fever:

  • Elevated body temperature stimulates the body's immune response against infectious viruses and bacteria.
  • It also makes the body less favorable as a host for replicating viruses and bacteria, which are temperature sensitive.
  • fever run its course may reduce the length and severity of such illnesses as colds and flu.

Whenever I have fever, mostly i dont take medicine for it because medicine should not be taken until and unless these symptoms occurs:

  • A fever of more than five days duration.
  • High fever accompanied by lethargy
  • High fever accompanied by any of the symptoms of meningitis: an unusual skin rash, severe headache, aversion to light, confusion, stiff or painful neck.

So, its a good response of our body if these condition does not occurs then fever is a kind of immunity booster, a natural body defence system.
