Explain the difference between LHC and RHC polarisations.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The difference between Left hand circularly polarized and right hand circularly polarized are as follows,

LHC - left hand circularly polarized RHC - Right hand circularly polarized

Its wave equation is given as,

Its wave equation is given as,

Left- Hand-Circular (LHC) follows a counterclockwise pattern in its polarisation. Right-Hand-Circular (RHC) follows a clockwise pattern in its polarisation.
The LHC polarization wave can be thought to arise from the circular motion depicted by inverting the oscillation in the y-direction. If so for the LHC polarization then the RHC wave can be thought to arise from the circular motion depicted by inverting the oscillation in the z-direction
At this time angular momentum vector points in the +y-directionits direction of motion, and the will have negative helicity.

At this time its angular momentum vector points in the z-direction,its direction of motion, and the wave will have positive helicity.
