What does professionalism as a nurse practitioner mean to you?
Becoming professional is itself a big step and having carrier in nursing as profession is series of such steps.
While unnldertaking my nursing education I actually started by journey towards professionalism and started to become professional personality as nursing is a highly rayes profession over here in US.
As soon as I put my uniform it gives me feeling of professional then it doesn't matter to me wheather I give bed bath or suppository to my patients as uniform reminds me itjust ajob of mine to serve the needy to recover from illness. It becomes so happening and naturally puts descent satisfaction when patient you served recovers completely, smiles at you and wave to you while returning back to home on discharge that is the movement once in billion which gives best feeling of the world and this profession.
Being professional nurse means the patient in care must be able to trust you, that will only built when our practice is full of perfection and up to date. Being able to built that trust is where your actual professionalism starts; apart from that rest all is just a part of our job. We must treat our patient with kindness, dihnitt, respect, humanity and compassion. The most important skill that you must have here is patience. Once you can able to manage this all then professionalism automatically roles out in you. Added on to these all good communication skills and ever happening personality of mine always helped me to climb the ladder in place where I belong to right now in my profession as nurse. That is why I love my profession it's not only my job or duty but it's my passion.
