1. Educator and counsellor: The important aspect of a diabetes management is adequate counselling and patient education about the disease process. This disease involves a many lifestyle modifications which lead to a good outcome is strict compliance to the management measures are maintained.
2. Diagnosis and treatment : The nurse practitioner is competent enough to diagnose a patient with diabetes and to make necessary treatment, to modify the drug dosage whenever required.
3. Communicator : The nurse practitioner links the patients to different interdisciplinary care system. The nurse acts a resource person who communicates all the concerns of the patients with the healthcare team members and educates them about the various services and treatment modalities available for diabetes management.
