Think about the television programs and films you have seen recently that depicted business in some way. How were businesses and business people portrayed? Is there anything business could or should do to improve its media image? Some businesses try to stay out of the limelight. Why might that be? What do you think of that strategy? Do you believe that employees are more attracted and committed to ethical organizations? Are you? Why or why not?
so while talking about the business we have to remember one thing, even the TV programs that we are watching now are a part of business for many people and it emerged as a whole new industry in the recent decades, recently I have seen 'GURU' a movie based on how hard a young college graduated student has to struggle to start a business, the whole politics behind it and a number of sacreficies made by him to achieve his goal. mainly whenever we watch any movie especially related to corporate world, filmmakers always want to project the politics and crime behind it, they mainly portrayed a story regarding how people make their work done, power of money and how bureaucratic connections are used in business but they forget to show the hard work and entrepreneurship skill needed to establish a business, dedication, and passion to achieve it definitely it may happen that during nineties people have to use different tactics to get their work done but nowadays the whole scenario has been changed and everyone has the same set of information which provide people an equal opportunity so depicting the same nineties picture is not a good idea. to change the media image there is a need to maintain a proper communication with the society apart from making them believe that we are working for the betterment of them, thankfully we are in technological era where it becomes more easy for anyone to reach out up to the last people maybe it will take time and go slowly but it will work. another step that can be taken and even it is being made compulsory by all the government is the use of CSR funds. as in most of the corporate houses, CSR funds are used only for spreading the awareness by taking support from local NGO and that's the problem in it as even after investing a huge amount people didn't come to know about the person behind it thus rather than using the CSR fund for awareness scheme it should be used after proper consulting with nearby residents it will also make them happier and their problem can also be solved, apart from it, corporate branding can also be done by making people aware of their contribution in the nation-building it makes people realize their importance and which will ultimately build respect for corporate in the society. we have seen some business always try to stay out of limelight it mainly happens due to some of these reasons either firm is mainly doing business in B2B and thus they don't need any kind of publicity for their growth and even if it is required they have predefined different segment for their marketing, sometimes it also happens that they are well-established business firm and people already have emotions attached to them because of their contribution to nations growth and in this kind of firm they mainly rely on word of mouth from their customer so this kind of strategy can only be used by some of the well established firm in market and for those either if they have monopoly in the sector or if they are the firm which sets the industry benchmark, however, if it is being used by the new upcoming firm it will be little risky for them. definitely, employees are more attracted and committed to an ethical organization it is because people once know that they are working for someone who is itself working for Nobel purpose, it makes them more motivated and inspired for a better work and apart from it, they are assured about the culture and norms of the business. even I would like to work for a business firm working for the Nobel cause of society because through it I can get a chance to help many others in society and it will also give satisfaction to me for the rest of my life.
