Expert Solution

The five stages of listening are receiving, understanding, remembering, evaluating, and responding and it was introduced by Joseph DeVito. Recently I had a conversation with one of my teachers who was talking about his experience as a student. I was listening him to write an aticle about him in the college magazine. I was able to relate to the story as I am a student now, so I received his information carefully. I had trouble understanding some of the terms that he described because I was not aware of it, but I asked for clarification and he explained it to me patiently. Initially, I was not able to remember things that he suggested me to use paper and pen to take notes. That helped me complete the remember stage. I then started evaluating the messages and cross checked my understanding by answering his questions. During the responding stage, I missed certain information which he later corrected.
