Does tap water conduct electricity - Yes.
1. When the electricity flowing through a liquid, the liquid is know as electrolite.
2. The main reason of flowing of electricity though any electrolite is the presence of free ions in it which are known as cations and anions. (Negative and positive charge). for eample in a solution of NaCl, Na+ and Cl- ions are there which helps to flow the electrons from one electrode to other.
3. In tap water, there are some minarals present as the water is not 100% pure, these minarals acts as ions to help the electrons to flow from one electrode to other.
4. if we are using boiled and distiled water, it have only H2O present in it which may decompose due to electricity, but the decomposed ions are so less to conduct the electons. So electricity can not flow through the 100% pure water as pure water beig the bad conductor of electricity. But the tap water case is different.
