Conduct a research on a particular industry/company in
which it has a high demand on manpower, but is unable to recruit
enough. You are required to:
(a) explain why it is difficult to attract candidates;
(b) what and how planning should be done to do the manpower
forecast?
(c) what would be the possible ways of attracting and recruiting
candidates?
Ans:- (a) It is difficult to attract candidates in industry/company because of following reasons:-
1] Sometimes,the issue is location.
2] Sometimes, the business is not well-known.
3] Sometimes, the company has a reputation for being a dissatisfying place to work.
Regardless of the reason, every business needs to be able to attract good people to achieve the best results.
(b) Manpower planning is a very important tool and technique of human resource management. It basically aims at maintaining and improving the ability of an organisation to attain the goals of an organisation by developing and utilising properly its human resources.
Planning should be done in the following ways:-
(1) Collection, maintenance and interpretation of relevant information regarding human resources.
(2) Periodical review of manpower objectives and requirements.
(3) Development of procedures and techniques to determine the requirements of different types of manpower over a period of time.
(4) Development of measures for the utilisation of manpower along with independent validation, if possible.
(5) Employment of suitable techniques for the effective allocation of work with a view to improve manpower utilisation properly.
(6) Conducting surveys for determining the factors hampering the contribution of individual as well as of the groups in the organisation for modifying or removing those handicaps.
(7) Development and employment of methods of economic assessment of human resources, reflecting its features as an income generator and cost.
(8) Evaluation of the procurement, promotion, retention, etc., of the effective manpower resources in relation to the forecast of manpower requirements of the organisation.
