In brief paragraph

Explain the Electoral College and make your best argument for why it should be preserved or eliminated.

Is it still serving a legitimate function or is it an impediment to real democracy?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The electoral college is set of electors who are selected to elect a candidate to a particular office.

The electoral college should be eliminated for a number of reasons. One,it encourages candidates to focus their campaigns on small groups of swing states rather the country as a whole. Two,it discriminates against smaller parties participating in the selection of the president , perpetuating a two party system. Three, it ignores the will of the people.

Electoral college is an impediment to real democracy because it does not accurately represent the voice of the people. It gives way too much power to people who live in swing states and it makes it harder for third part candidates to win the lections.
