During the presidential election to give their official votes for president and vicepresident of the United Stats.Several weeks after the general election, electors from each state meet in their state capitals and cast their official vote for president and vicepresident. Electors are selected by the each state legislature.Electors cannot be currently holding any federal office.Electoral College system also existing in lndia, Pakistan, Burundi, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Myanmar, etc.

The election of the president of the United States iട a two step process. First, voters cast ballots on election day in each state.Second, in nearly every state, the candidate who gets the most votes win the electoral votes for that state, and gets that number of voters in the Electoral College. The president is elected by a college of 538 electors and it takes 270 votes to win.

The system of Electoral College is controversial. It permits the election of a candidate who does not win the most votes. Electoral College compromises the one person, one vote principle but it is less democratic than a popular vote. This is not a direct democratic system. The US system iട the best example of indirect democracy. Some historians argue the Electoral College's origins are linked to white supermacy.

In my opinion, Electoral College should reformed.Electoral College system not provide direct democracy. States have abandoned their commitment to majority rule. The US electoral system can be fixed and the power lies with the states. This is undemocratic system.Electoral College treat all Americans are not equally. The presidential elections into massive efforts to win the votes of a small number of votes in a few key states, rather than the support of the American people as a whole. These are the major limitations of Electoral College system. So the Electoral College must need to be reformed.
