Social statuses are a person's position or standing in society compared to others. There are two types of status one is ascribed status and the second one is achieved.
The ascribed status is one that a child is born with or it is involuntary got added as an ascribed status. These include one's wealth, ethnicity, nationality, physical appearance, looks, and family background.
The achieved status is one that a person earned through his hard work, education, dedication, and skill. There are lots of opportunities one gets in life to change his status. The positive attitude, the right opportunity, and hard work help a person to rise in social status. Or the person who is born with ascribed status as a wealthy, healthy and handsome can lose all his status if he does not look after all the ascribed status with a positive approach.
I have achieved status with my hard work dedication and my parent's support. I was born into a middle-class family. My parents were authoritative they were responsive and helpful. They taught me good manners and the ability to take challenges in life. They had helped in getting higher academic success and now I am managing an organization that looks after the children who are mentally and physically abused. In my organization, we conduct therapies and try to bring the child and parents together.
These children are usually found to be using drugs, smoking, and alcohol at an early age, I encouraged them to go to school and make use of the federal government policy of No Child Is Left Behind.
My parents still help me in my work and they are the support and encouraging force behind my success.
The ascribed status I got is looks, personality, middle-class family, supportive parents, religious and God-fearing family, and attractive personality. We have our contacts with my grandparents that give the feeling of fulfillment.
My achieved status is my education, my position as the head of an organization that is helping the children who need help.
