• Ascribed status is something which is involuntary and we dont choose,which includes our social class,gender,caste,race,ethnicity etc. As a woman obviously I experience role strain because of the expectations that are placed on me.I experience role strain in my role as a homemaker,as one hand I have to take care of the house and on the the other hand take care of my family.I need to clean the house,cook food and also prepare lunch for my husband,iron his clothes etc.because obviously I am the wife.
• Achieved status is something which is voluntary and has been earned based on one's merits and efforts.For example,becoming a doctor,lawyer,professor etc.I also had achieved my status to be a psychologist but stopped working after marriage.When I was working,I did experience role conflict between my role as a psychologist and as a wife.I was not able to balance the my work and home life.
• As a professional I needed to my time to my clients,and sometimes I brought cases at home and even took calls,and as a homemaker I needed to take care of my household chores,cook food,wash clothes etc.Both the roles at different obligations,which was causing the conflict as I was unable to manage my time between the two,which was stressing me out,so I left my work.
