1.Child above 2 years can stand for measuring height and weight.

For measuring height..

  • help the child to stand on the baseboard with feet slightly apart
  • back of head , shoulder blades and buttocks and heels shouldtouch the vertical board
  • hold the head in position;for preschooler and toddler hold the chin with thumb and forefinger for proper positioning.
  • make sure attention for preschooler and toddler and ask adolescent to keep position and focus.
  • pull down the headboard to firmly on the top of head that compress the hair.
  • read the measurement and record it properly in cm

measuring weight

  • talk with the child in a friendly manner and communicate with them for standing properly on the weighing machine.
  • turn on the scale; when it appears zero it is ready
  • ask the child to stand in the middle of the scale; feet slightly apart.
  • ask the child to be there till the weight displayed
  • measure it properly

using height and weight calculate body mass index accordingly
