1. Many complex characteristics in living organisms such as weight, height, or behavior follow a bell-shaped curve. What causes this effect?
Many Complex characteristics in living organisms such as weight, height or behaviour follow a bell shaped curve this occurs because of polygenic inheritance. There are found involvement of more than one gene in this case. Every gene has an independent effect on the phenotype of an individual. This is the case of additive inheritance in which every allele will express itself. This is the case of quantitative inheritance. And gives bell shaped distribution. The number of phenotype can be counted by (2×n+1) formula. Here n is the number of genes. This leads to many kind of phenotype which give bell shaped graph when the different kind of number of phenotype is plotted against a particular trait.
