2. What process is occurring in the germinating pea seeds?Group of answer choices

cellular respiration

photosynthesis

3. After a mature pea plant flowers and is fertilized, it makes new seeds for the next generation. 1) What process would the mature pea plant use to produce the food it stores in the seeds? 2) How does it convert the food to the starch that is visible in the seeds?

Group of answer choices

1. cellular respiration 2. hydrolysis

1. cellular respiration 2. condensation (dehydration)

1. photosynthesis 2. hydrolysis

1. photosynthesis 2. condensation (dehydration)

4. Why were dry, non-germinating peas included in the pea experiment?

Group of answer choices

They were the experimental variable

They were the controlled variable

They were the control group

They were the experimental group

Solutions

Expert Solution

1. False

Fats are broken down by lipases which is the enzymes responsible for fat metabolism. The products of this breakdown are then used in the cellular respiration process or fermentation. Cellular respiration is the process of breaking down of sugar in the presence of oxygen. Fermentation is the partial breakdown of sugar in the absence of oxygen.

2. Cellular respiration

The germination time means the plant is growing and it needs lot of energy for dividing and things. So, the food stored in the seed have to be converted to energy because there is no way for it to do the photosynthesis. So, the germinating seed undergoes cellular respiration.

3.

1.Photosynthesis ; 2. Condensation(dehydration)

The pea plants use photosynthesis to produce food which is then stored in the seeds. The product of photosynthesis is glucose which is then converted to starch to store in the seeds by the process of condensation.

4. They were the experimental group

The pea experiment compares respiration rates in germinating and non-germinating peas. So, both are experimental groups.

a. Which of the following is true? Group of answer choices Additional variables can add noise to the model that slightly increases R-squared All the options are true You can use multiple independent variables to predict a dependent variable The R-Squared value is a measure of how good the model is. b.This term refers to when two predictor variables are highly correlated with each other and so the effect of the variables on the dependent response is questionable.

Some explanations of glycolysis, lactic acid fermentation and aerobic cellular respiration seem to indicate that your cells SWITCH between the two options to finish glycolysis: lactic acid fermentation OR cellular respiration. This is not the case! Your cells do not choose EITHER lactic acid fermentation OR aerobic cellular respiration In the above situation, what will happen to glycolysis rates that move forward to lactic acid fermentation? Why?
