1)The osmosis is the movement of the water molecules from their high concentration to their low concentration through a semipermeable membrane. This process does not require ATP and is a passive process. So the right answer is it moves with a water concentration gradient ie from high water potential to a low water potential.
2)Transverse movement of the lipids from one leaflet to the other is through flippases. The transverse movement of lipids is a rare event because the polar head group will have to interact with the hyrophobic region. Therefore the plasma membrane is asymmetrical which contains different lipids on the either side of the leaflets. So the right answer is transverse.
3)The silica is the immobile phase and the solvent is the mobile phase containing hexane or any other organic solvent. The mixture of substances that need to be separated (plant pigment) is placed as a dot on the immobile phase and then dipped in the mobile phase such that the pigment just touches the mobile phase. Then the mixture of substances is made to run on the immobile phase through capillary action. If pigment has more affinity for immobile phase then it will continue to move slowly compared to those having less affinity which will move fastly. So the right asnwer is TLC.
