THE IDEA BEHIND ENGLISH ONLY LAWS IS TO ENCOURAGE THE USE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN ALL TYPES OF FORMS OF COMMUNICATION. WHETHER IT IS WRITTEN OR ORAL. THUS IT WILL REQUIRE ALL PERSONALS TO SPEAK AS WELL AS UNDERSTAND THE ENLISH LANGUAGE WHICH COULD BE A DIFFICULT TASK FOR PEPLE OF NON ENGLISH ORIGIN THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GIVE THEIR BEST PERFORMANCE BECAUSE OF LACK OF LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE AS LANGUAFE LEARNING IS A TIME CONSUMING TASK AND FOR SOME IT COULD OF A DIFFICULT ONE TOO. THERE ARE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF EVERYTHING SO WE WILL BE DISCUSSING BOTH HERE.
1) EASY GRAMMER RULES:
THE RULES OF GRAMMER OF THE LANGUAGE ARE EASY OR LESS CONFUSSING AS COMPARED TO OTHER OFFICIAL LANGUAGES OF THE WORLD THUS IT BECOMES EASY TO USE THE LANGUAGE.
2) BENEFICIAL FOR FOREIGN PEOPLE:
ALOT OF STUDENTS AND IMMIGRANTS FEEL IT EASY TO SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND THE LANGUAGE AND THUS EASY EXCHANGE OF IDEAS TAKES PLACE
3) TRANSLATION EXPENSES ARE REDUCED:
A HUGE AMOUNT IS SPENT ON TRANSLATION METHODS WHICH IS REDUCED WHEN THE WORLD COMMUNICATES IN ONE LANGUAGE ONLY
4) PROMOTION OF UNITY:
IT BECOMES CONVENIENT IF PEOPLE COMMUNICATE AND EXCHANGE THEIR IDEAS IN A SINGLE LANGUAGE ONLY THER IS NO BIASNESS IN THIS WAY.
AS WE HAVE DISCUSSED THE POSSIBLE ADVANTAGES THERE ARE SOME DISADVANTAGES OF THE SAME LAW WHICH ARE:
1) NO FREE SPEECH:
AS EVERYONE IS NOT FLUENT IN ENGLISH THIS HAMPERS THE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS OF PEOPLE AND THEY BEOME NUMB.
2) DISCRIMINATION
THOSE WHO ARE NOT EDUCATED OR HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE LANGUAGE ARE DISCRIMINATED AND ARE MADE FUN OF AND THIS LEADS TO PEOPLE BEING LEFT BEHIDE FROM GETTING THE PREVILEGES.
3) BIASNESS
THIS LEADS TO BIASNESS AMONG PEOPLE WHO DO NOT HAVE COMMAND OVER THE LANGUAGE
