Describe a way in which you use organic compounds in your home or work environment. Choose a compound that is classified as an amide, amine, thiol, carboxylate, and halocarbon. Let’s see how many different examples can be described.
amide uses in our daily life :
(i) piperine is an amide generally used in daily life in curry in the form of pepper powder
(ii) pencilline G is an amide used as antibiotic
(iii) caffeine is an amide used in coffee and tea
(iv) nylon-66 is an amide it is a polymer used in cloths and plastics
amine uses :
(i) amine are part of all amino acids which are present in proteins
(ii) amines are used to make dyes which are prepare by reaction between diazonium salt and amine
(iii) all anit-histamine are amine for allergies drugs.
thiol uses :
thiols are used in gas cylinder in order to find leakage of gas. in general butane gas is odourless . so to find out the leakage trace amoun of thiol is added to butane gas
carboxylate uses :
carboxylates are used to clean kitchen appleances example : CH3COO-
carboxylates are used as drugs example in the form form aspirin
halocarbons uses :
(i) poly vinyl chloride is a polymer of halocarbon vinyl chloride it is widely used to make pipes for water and other uses
(ii) hexachloro benzene is used as insecticide it is from benzene + Cl2 in presence of UV light
(iii) halocarbon commercially used as Tyrian purple a natural organobromide
(iv) halothane is used as anesthetic in medicine
(v) chlorobenzene is used to prepare disinfectant .
