Solutions

Expert Solution

8 people in the mini van

4 people are standing which means that they are alright and they have escaped unhurt

Victim 1 - 40 year old woman who is unconscious and stopped breathing

Victim 2 - 15 year old boy who has a deformity in right arm who is unconscious but is breathing

Victim 3 - 65 year old man who is crying with a cut wrist and bleeding ankle

Victim 4 - The driver who is sitting outside and holding his head.

a) The problems in this scenario are the 45 year old lady is not breathing, the 65 year old man has a bleeding ankle and wrist. They need immediate attention. The teenage boy and the driver also need to be made alert and need to be calmed down from the trauma that the accident has caused.

b) The 45 year old woman who is not breathing would need immediate CPR and also her pulse is to be checked immediately since she is unconscious and not breathing. Her pulse has to be revived.

The 15 year old teenage boy would need to be woken up by sprinkling some water on his face. He needs to be made alert as he is unconscious but breathing.

The 65 year old man need immediate first aid for closing the wound on his wrist and also stopping the profuse bleeding on his ankle.

The driver need to be relaxed and calm as he is in a state of shock and trauma. Also he should be checked for any head injury since he is holding is head. It could be a concussion on his head.

All these 4 victims should be taken care of immediately. We could take help of the other 4 people who are standing.

c) First priority should be given to the 45 year old lady and she should be given CPR for breathing and also her pulse should be checked

Then the 65 year old man's injuries should be taken care of as he is bleeding profusely. Loss of blood should be prevented.

Then, attention could be given to the 15 year old teenage boy and the driver.
