Many disorders of this chapter are the result of either too many (leukocytosis) or too few cells (thrombocytopenia). Discuss the importance of the correct balance and problems associated with too many or too few of a particular cell types. If you were to use the metaphor of your body as a city, what role would the blood and its vessels play? 300 words

In essence, there should be a relatively correct balance of cells in the body. This is particularly important for efficient cell functions. There is however several problems associated with improper cell balance in the body. For instance, imbalance of red cell in the body, either too many red blood cell or very few red blood cells is known to have several effects on the body(Houghton, 2007).The normal adult male has a little more than 5 million red platelets for every cubic millimeter (microliter) while femalesadult have more than 4.5 million red platelets for each microliter.in case of to many red blood cells, affects the viscosity of blood and thus eventuallyeffecting on the rate of blood flow. On the other hand, very few red blood cells affect the oxygen-carrying capacity as well as the viscosity of blood.

Similarly, in the case of white cells, very few numbers of white cells in the blood causes a disorder known as Leukopenia at the point where the number of white cells is lower than 4,000 cells per microliter hence lowering immunity(Houghton, 2007). Too high number of white cells to more than 11,000 cells per microliter causes a disorder known as Leukocytosis.

Additionally, too many platelets in the bloodor too few platelets even abnormally functioning platelets. On the off chance that a human has a higher platelet countmore than the 450,000, it is a condition regularly known as thrombocytosis while on the other hand, a human with fewer than 150,000 is generally known as thrombocytopenia(Coronet Instructional Films, 1980).These diseases are all related to strokes, blood clots, and heart attacks.

Using the metaphor of your body as a city, the circulatory system can be depicted as the road network inside our city. Similar to a road network, blood and its vessels conveys food to homes and carries away waste. There are major highways such as veinsand arteries veins, and side back street ways such as vessels(Houghton, 2007). In our bodies, blood is a specific organic liquid that streams down the streets which conveys supplements and oxygen to cells and carries awaywastessuch as urea and carbon dioxide away.

Every firm faces challenges related to growth- either too much or too little. Managers need to understand the impact of growth on the firm and recognize that "growth at all costs" should not be the main objective of a firm. In this week's module, discuss the balance between growing too quickly and growing too slowly as a firm and what decisions a manager can make to help impact this balance.
