Case: A New Business

Mr. Khalid, a young entrepreneur who has worked in various restaurants throughout high school and college, has decided to develop a new food service concept that focuses primarily on takeout of home-cooked food for busy professionals on their way home from work. The restaurant would also have a small dining area for customers who wish to eat the food there. Because this prospective business will have to compete with other traditional local restaurants, Mr. Khalid wants to ensure that this business will compete on quality and develop a strong quality reputation.

Expert Solution

For any business, be it an existing business or a new business, the marketing perspective of quality is focused on satisfying and giving value to the customers. Quality has to be made tangible and should be transformed into something that the customer can actually perceive and feel and hence see that quality in a manner. Here it should be noted that marketing perspective of quality points out that high prices do not mean high quality and so companies have to price their products and services reasonably and they cannot give the impression that their products and services are of high quality just by pricing them higher.

Here Mr. Khalid can implement the marketing perspective of quality in his new food service business. Organic, fresh and healthy ingredients should be used to cook food that will be sold by his food service concept. Use of organic ingredients will add incremental value for Mr. Khalid’s customers and they will start feeling the quality here. As they consume the food they will even be able to put a tangible aspect to quality here. Focus on providing quick and efficient service will also augment value for customers.
