Improving the patient experience
- If a device exists that causes pain, make sure a corresponding
device exists to provide relief/comfort
- Create waiting rooms that are more private and have better
atmospheres
- We had a healthy place instead of a hospital
- Create an app that tracks medications being taken and
administered
- Use the Socratic method when diagnosing/discussing treatment:
What does that patient think needs to happen and start a
discussion/treatment plan?
- Sell insurance across state lines — create a national
exchange
- Show patients a flow chart of what patients suffering from the
same disease did in terms of physician appointments, drugs,
surgeries, etc. Give them a road map based on previous
patients.
- Easy access to my medical records and the medical data is
accessible to all healthcare providers.
Ideas For Healthcare Innovation
- Rethinking Advance Care Planning:- it easy for people to create
advance directives, easily access them anytime, and share them with
clinicians or family members. This would give peace of mind to
patients and families.
- Better post-acute rating and referral system:- Provide
hospitals a (software) tool to gain visibility into the patient’s
path,
- Better use of health tracking hardware:-Bundle health
diagnostic hardware together and build the software to generate
simple health reports for doctors.
- Real-time logistics tracking within the Hospital:- Tracking the
exact location of patients and staff within hospital walls.
- A Cost-Effective Alternative to the 9–1–1 Ambulance:-An app
that can be an alternative to a 911 phone call. It would offer the
ability to triage and categorize the incoming call, with the
ability to upload (pic, video, stream), assess the need for
assistance and possibly offer a lower level/lower cost response
team.
- Care Coordination Technology for the Public Sector:-Create a
simple process so caregivers can clock in for shifts with a mobile
app and reliably receive electronic payment.
- Resident Scheduling and Communication Platform:- A scheduling
platform specifically for residents would benefit stressed-out
residents and their attending physicians, leading to better patient
care.
- A tool to manage medication reconciliation:-Create a platform
of trained people that go into the homes of seniors and do
medication reconciliation
- Build Electronic Visit Verification:-Electronic Visit
Verification (EVV) monitors locations of caregivers which would
significantly reduce fraud.
- A telehealth platform for integrative medicine:-Build an
integrative medicine platform to connect integrative medicine
doctors with patients across the country using virtual telehealth
(video/audio consultations instead of the traditional visit to the
doctor’s office).
- Simple interface for insurance pre-approval:-Offer a simple
tool to private practice providers giving them access to patient
copay and deductible information.
The following factors contribute to the improvement of
patient care
- Trained Personnel
- Quality eye care
- Equipment
- Use of proper instruments
- Use of proper medication
- Use of newer technologies
Guideline to improve healt care and clinical
setting
- Access:-. Accessibility and availability of both the hospital
and the physician should be assured to all those who require health
care.
- Waiting time:- Waiting times for all services should be
minimised. In most developing countries, the high demand for
services often makes this a huge problem.
-
Information:- Patient information and instruction about all
procedures, both medical and administrative, should be made very
clear.
-
Administration:- Check-in and check-out procedures should be
‘patient friendly’.
-
Communication:- Communicating with the patient and the family
about possible delays is a factor that can avoid a lot of
frustration and anxiety. The creation of a special ‘Patient Care
Department’ with a full time Administrator has helped our
institution significantly and has enhanced our interactions with
patients and their families.
-
Ancillary Services:-Other services such as
communication, food, etc. should be accessible both to patients and
to attending families.
