About 700 Narragansett, including children and women were killed in a battle named Great Swamp Massacre. The tribe then left its homeland. The Narragansett were the hunter gathered people who were dependent on sky, land and sea. They were famous for “ The Towers” which were the architectural landmarks.

They initiated for food sovereignity for providing better food, wellness and health to the people by good agricultural practices, relevant economic development, socialism and enhancing the value of cultural and educational events. The initiative included developing lease gardens for individuals, community gardens, farms, farm museums and educational trails.

Their initiative and ideas for its completion had long term goals with sustainability and quality education of the tribal community and providing education to the backward people and encouraging them to socialize more and how they can participate in the initiative taken for their own development sake. They had ideas to develop farms and gardens where the tribal people can cultivate and produce food for their own or community’s sake with this they’ll be able to acquire food sovereignity and economic as well as social development.
