Consider your own advanced care planning.
The advanced directives that I consider are: living will and the durable power of attorney for health care.
If I couldn’t make my own decisions, I would ask my mother to do that for me.
Yes, I do have a living will. I have kept the originals in a safe but easily accessible place. and given a copy to my doctor. My family is aware about it.
I have included:
Organ and tissue donations
Donating my body for scientific study also specified.
Passive euthanasia: If I am ever going to be in a vegetative state, i would prefer switching off life-support machines, not carrying out a life-extending operation, not administering life-extending drugs. I do not want to be kept alive by artificial means and the hospitals to keep making money out of it. I have the right to die with dignity.
I would make a power of attorney by two or more persons jointly that includes my mother and husband.
Special cultural and religious beliefs to be considered are: doctors should not interfere with the process of natural death.i.e. no resuscitation/ventilator but also that after death my body or useful organs be donated to the needy. I would want my body to be cremated in the specified cemetry plot.
Just want a small prayer service to be conducted post death and eulogy given by any one of my member. I want a least expensive burial.
