Discussion Question 1: Discuss the differences between the Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and Classical Physics Theory (i.e. Galileo and Newton, etc.)

Discussion Question 2: Discuss the wave-particle duality of light and its implications. What are possible industrial applications?

Solutions

Expert Solution

ANSWER:

1)
Space is suspect in classical physics not time but in Einstein relativity both time and space are suspect. They both are relative. Newtonian Physics says time is absolute but time is dilated for moving frame in Einstein relativity.

example two photons are moving with speed of light (c) in vacuum in opposite direction, then speed of one photon in other photon's frame is 2c in Newtonian classical mechanics. But it is only c in Einstein relativity since speed of light is constant, it doesn't depend on motion of source and observer in relativity.

2)
Wave particle duality says that light has both particle and wave nature.

Light shows diffraction, interference (wave nature) and it also shows particle nature in photoelectric and compton effect.

Industrial application-

i).Photoelectric effect of light is used in alarm clock in bank. If light fall on metal, it emit electrons and which create current for alarm in case of robbery.

2. X-rays are used to create image of boon.
