Mental health refers to the psychological condition of a person which affects his/her feelings, thoughts, and ultimately results in a change in actions.

As a conclusion, we can say that the imbalance of mental health is mental illness. Mental illness is basically not feeling well mentally. Mental illness is difficult to recognise but once it is known, its cure can be done.

Individuals who have a mental illness don't necessarily look like they are sick, especially if their illness is mild. Other individuals may show more explicit symptoms such as confusion, agitation, or withdrawal.

There are Five Warning Signs of Mental Illness are :-

  • Long-lasting sadness or irritability.
  • Extremely high and low moods.
  • Excessive fear, worry, or anxiety.
  • Social withdrawal.
  • Dramatic changes in eating or sleeping habits.

The major facts related to mental health are:

1. Children can also have a mental illness. Half of all mental health disorders show first signs before a person turns 14 years old, and three-quarters of mental health disorders begin before age 24.

2. People with mental health problems are just as productive as other employees. Employers who hire people with mental health problems report good attendance and punctuality as well as motivation, good work, and job tenure on par with or greater than other employees.

3. Mental illness is not happening only with people with personality weakness & character flaws.

4. Treatment for mental health illness depends upon the individual. Just taking a pill can’t cure it. Some sort of medication & therapy is needed.

There are more than 200 classified forms of mental illness. Some of the more common disorders are depression, bipolar disorder, dementia, schizophrenia and anxiety disorders. In a recent study, it is found that people with mental illness are unable to accept it and feel ashamed of talking about it. But they need to understand it is very common and its cure is necessary.

Not all brain diseases are categorized as mental illnesses. Disorders such as epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis are brain disorders, but they are considered neurological diseases rather than mental illnesses.

There are some ways of recovery from mental illnesses:-

Recovery from mental illness means the change of thoughts, feelings and actions in a positive way. There's no cure for mental illness, but there are lots of effective treatments. People with mental illnesses can recover and live long and healthy lives by :-

1.Develop a recovery plan so that you can have an identified goal for achieving wellness.

2. Try to find your source of happiness and engage yourself in daily activities of life.

3. At this point, Self-motivation is a key to recovery. Try to motivate yourself and find the purpose of your life.

4. One common mantra to cure it is that daily after waking up from bed say yourself that “I am mentally strong and physically active “ from your heart.

5. Psychotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of mental illness provided by a trained mental health professional. It explores thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and seeks to improve an individual's well-being. Psychotherapy paired with medication is the most effective way to promote recovery.

6. Consult our Physiatrist and give them daily updates of your health so that better cure can be done.

7. Try out those therapies recommended by professionals and just believe in yourself.
