1. First , The Arousal of emotion and motives of motivation both activate or energize behaviour. Second, emotions often go together with motives... And Third, it is typical for basis emotions to prosesses motivational properties of their own. For Example, happiness motivates a person to acheive better performance.
What is Motivation- Motivation is a force that energizes, activities and directs behaviour. Franken defined motivation as the “arousal, direction and persistence of a person’s behaviour”.
What is Emotion- Emotion Refer to the conscious and subjective experience that is characterized by mental states, biological reaction and psychological or physiological expressions (e.g. facial expressions).
Relationship Emotion Nd Motivation- Motivation and emotion are usually as two psychological features that seemingly share cause and effect relationship.
There is some motive for engaging in those behaviour. We May define a motive (or Motivation) as a need, want, interest, or desire that propels someone(or and organism) in a certain direction..
There are several distinct theories of motivation. Some include basis biologial forces, while others seems to transcend concrete explanation. There are five major theories of motivation.
A. Instinct Theory- This theory is derived from our biological make up.Example - Bird make nest , a human mother, will stay awake with a crying infant all the night long trying to provide comfort.
B. Drive Reduction Theory- Human has internal biological needs which motivate us to perform certain way.A prime example would be the internal feeling of hunger or thirst, which motivate us to eat.
C. Arousal Theory- This theory state that we are driven to maintain a certain level of arousal in order to feel comfortable.Arousal refers to a state of emotion, intellectual and physical activities.Example- why people climd mountain , go to school, or watch sad movies.
D. Psychoanalitical Theory- As oart of this theory, he belives that humans have only two basic drives- Life and Death drives..Everything we do , every thought we have, and every emotion we experience has one of two goal..Example - we go to school because it will help assure our survival in terms of improved finances, more mony for healthcare.
E. Humanistic Theory-It is perhaps the most well know n theory of motivation. Humana are driven to acheive their maximum potential and will always do so unless obstacles are placed in their way..
Psychonalitical theo
Same theory could not apply on a peron all the time..
2. It is a very debatable questiion is which theory is best .There are five theories which attempt to underatant why we experience emotion. It is helpful to first explain in terms of the interaction between their components: an emotion- arousing stimulus, psysiological arousal, cognitive appraisal, and the subjective experience of emotion.
A.James -Lange Theory B. Cannon Bard Theory C. Schachter-Singer Theory D. Lazarus Theory E.Facial Feedback Theory
Here, I will explain Scachter Singer Theory.
Scachter Singer Theory- According to this theory, an event causes physiological arousal first. You must then identify a reason for this arousal and then you are able to experience and lable the emotion.
Example- You are Walking adown a dark aley late night. You hear footsteps behind you and you begain to Tremble, Your heart beats faster, and your breathing deepens. Upon noticing this arousal you realize that is come from the fact that you are walking down a dark alley by yourself. This behaviour is dangerous and therefore you feel the emotion of fear.
