List the five lobes of the cerebral cortex and state at least one function associated with each lobe.
Ans:-
The cerebrum is divided by a longitudinal fissure into 2 hemispheres, each containing 6 discrete lobes:
Frontal
Parietal
Temporal
Occipital
Insula
Limbic
frontal lobe:- it is mainly associatedwith higher mental function like facial expressions , higher cognitive thinking,
,Problem solving, behaviour , planning, organisation.
Parietal lobe:- it contain somatosensory area which is responsible for interpretation of sensory stimulus from different parts of body . Other functions:- touch , spelling, knowledge of no , perception.
TEMPORAL LOBE:- it contain hearing and facial recognition centers, understanding language. Speech,
Occipital lobe:+ responsible for vision , colour perception
Limbic system:- it is involved with sexual desires, emotion of love anger etc.
Insula:- homeostatic functions related to basic survival needs, such as taste, visceral sensation, and autonomic control. The insula controls autonomic functions through the regulation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. It has a role in regulating the immune system
