List and describe the lobes of the cerebrum. What function would be affected if a person were to have damage to the anterior portion of the cerebrum.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The cerebrum is the largest part of the human brain, It consists of 2 cerebral hemispheres (Right & Left), basal ganglia, hippocampus, and olfactory bulbs.

It has mainly 4 lobes 1. Frontal lobe, 2. parietal lobe, 3. Temporal lobe. 4. Occipital lobe. Each lobe has some specific function but they work together while carrying out many activities.

If a person damaged his anterior portion of the cerebrum(Frontal lobe) the following function will affect:-

  1. Cognitive skills (Frontal lobe is associated with critical thinking, problem-solving, attention, etc. so, injury to frontal lobe affected cognitive skills)
  2. Motor Functions (Frontal lobe control voluntary movements so, injury can affected voluntary muscle movements)
  3. Emotion (The frontal lobe is associated with problem-solving, self-control which helps to control our emotions and helps us to behave in a socially acceptable manner but the injury can affect these functions.)
  4. Spatial ability (Frontal lobe is also associated with logical thinking, quantitative and analytical reasoning so, damage can affected spatial abilty)
  5. Language

Individually interact with a person that you would NEVER normally associate with, and describe what the experience was like. Include your perceptions of that person or group, how you thought you were perceived by them, what you talked about, what verbal and nonverbal behaviors you observed, and how your own self-concept, beliefs, attitudes, and values may have influenced or affected the interaction. Suggestions: volunteer at a homeless shelter, hang out at a gay/straight/transgender bay, visit a home for the elderly,...
