changes in: physiologic changes, drug absorption, distribution metabolism, elimination; concerns for polypharmacy, disease and death importance of regular monitoring, and list the six principles important in treating older adults.
safety policies and procedures are the basis of a safe workplace .Individual safety and security is important because both safety and security affects an individuals well being. The Health insurance portability and accountabillity act[HIPAA] describes how PERSONAL INFORMATION[PHI] may be used and how the client can obtain access to the information PHI includes individually idenifiable information that relates to the clients past, present or future health;treatment; and payment for health service.PHI need to keep private and the client may file a compliant if the client believes that privacy rights have been violated

GERIATRIC PHARMACOLOGY
When advancing age drug related problems are likely to escalate.Physiologically changes vary among individualls ,but certain changes are common .aging also changes drug metabolism and excretion.Due to the weaking of gastro intestinal movements in the elderly and slow gastric emptying rates, drug stay longer in the gastro intestinal tract ,which is conductive to greater drug absorption.
drug distribution
when some drug is used in eldrely ,it has high level of free state and greater functionality in the elderly therefore they are prone to toxic reactions
drug metabolism
due to decreased activity of drug metabolic enzymes haif life of the drugs is prolonged ,so their is a chance of more adverse reactions
drug excretion
kidney is the main organ involved in excretion if patient has any renal problems ,their is a chance of drug toxicity
PRINCIPLES OF TREATING ELDRLY
1]Sudden changes comes from sudden problems-
2]gradual decline may not be alzhemers-so propper diagnosing and assessment is important
3]asseess medication use-,because many elderly use over the counter drugs
4]ageist attitudes are harmful
5]look for and treat all the diseases and worries such as loneliness ,pain ,fears rather than specific disease
6]Strive to maximum quality of life and functional ability -improving the enjoyment of life is important than quantity of living
7] there is always something that can be done to help
