Dyspnea:-
? Dyspnea is shortness of breath or
breathlessness.Shortness of breath can be a symptom of health
problem often related to heart ot lung disease..Temporary dyspnea
you can experience even after an intense workout also..
Contra indication;
-Smoking is the most obvious risk factor
for shortness of breath..
? -Air pollution and air borne chemicals.and pollen also
contraindication for shortness of breath..when there is poor air
quality,use mask to filter out lung irritants and keep your
environment well ventilated...
? -weight gain also contraindication for dyspnea..so losing weight
can be beneficial in many ways,reducing stress on the heart and
lung makes easy to exercise and strenghthen the heart and
lung..
?Nursing implications:-
-Make the patient comfortable by
elivating the head end..
? -After checking oxygen saturation administer oxygen as per doctor
advise to help ease the symptoms of shortness of breath..
-Provide air movement in the patient's
environment..
? -Assess and record respiratory rate every 4 hours
? -Check the ABG level..
-Observe for breathing pattern and sounds
-Administer prescribed bronchodilators and
corticosteroids..
- Administer prescribed opioids to relieving
dyspnea..
? -Encourage deep breath by using spirometer..
? -Encourage small frequent meals to prevent crowding of the
diaphram
? -Encourage salt restricted diet,because salt causes the body
fluid retain,so reducing salt intake will help to reduce fluid that
buildup in your lungs at night..
? -Encourage patient to avoid processed food,canned or
frozen food and fast food..
-Encourage the patient to use 2 pillows for head
to reduce lung congestion..
? -Privide psychological support to family and
patient..
? -Teach the patient breathing technique to use during
dyspneic episodes..
