For Americans to enjoy optimal health, as individuals and as a population, they must have the benefit of high quality health care services that are effectively coordinated within a strong public health system.

Health Care sector consists of an array of clinicians, hospitals, and other healthcare facilities, insurance plans and purchasers of healthcare services.

Here I'm selecting hospitals and insurance for mental health care.

Hospitals - It can be public or private. In this public hospital treat a wide variety of illnesses and ages. The private hospitals can be for profit or non-profit. Joint Commission on the Accredition of Healthcare Organizations helps hospitals maintain quality of care, establishes guidelines for the operation of hospitals, conducts inspections to ensure that standards are being met. Apart from that nowadays special hospitals are establishing to meet specific conditions, age groups or other ways of grouping patients. For example cancer hospital, pediatric hospitals, rehabilitation centers. Hospitals providing extra facilities like ambulatory facilities or outpatient services. They often provide diagnostic and treatment services.

Mental illness:

The surgeon general's report on mental illness estimates that more than one in five adults are affected by mental disorders in any given year and 5.4 percent of all adults have a serious mental illness. Mental disorders are a major public health issue because they affect such a large proportion of the population, have implications for other health problems, and impose high costs, both finacil and emotional, on affected individuals and their families. The cost to society is also high with indirect costs from lost productivity for affected individuals and their caretakers. But majority of individuals suffering from mental illness are not treated for their condition. Access to care is constrained by limitations on insurance coverage that are greater than those imposed for other diseases. Annual and lifetime coverage lmits are frequently less, and mental health coverage often has more hidden costs in the forms of copayments and higher deductibles.
