Wrestlers who cut weight often deny themselves the very nutreint they need to perform well.great slides have been made to decrease dangerous weight cutting techniques among wrestlers .Uderstanding the negative effects of cutting weight helps atthlets recognize the importance of losing weight by early healthy and exercising rather than using dehydration technique ( use of diuretics );and poor nutrition.
Common unhealthy weight reduction technique .
* Not eating or drinking the day before and or day of match
* Work out in many layers of clothing
* Exercise intensly without properly rehydrating the body
* Use of diuretics.
Physically, the threats of rapid weight loss include dehydration,electrolye I'm balance and muscle wasting.Extreme cases of dehydration due to the use of diuretics can lead to heart attack and renal failure.
Planning a safe diet for reduction of weights in wrestlers

For a wrestler, the daily calorie intake should not be less than 1700 to 1200 calories when planning for weight reduction.

Body needds constant supply of nutreints to keep it functioning.6 essential nutrients include water, carbohydrate,protein, fat ,vitamin and minerals
Carbohydrate: should make 50-65% of total calorie . excellent sources include bread,pasta, cereals ,fruits and vegetables
Fat. : Should include 20-30% of calorie. Wrestlers should consume meats ,nuts and dairy products for their fat requirement
Water : Drink plenty of water . Drink water every 10-15 min when at gym and every 3-4 hours day.
Protein. : 12-15% of calorie as protein .the foods include beans, nuts etc.
Eat smaller and frequent meals .Keep snacks with you.This prevents over eating and increases metabolsm.Maintain strength training along with focussing on diet.
