The general public’s perception of the nurse’s role is often very different from reality. Unless you know a nurse, your view of the profession may be incorrect. Many students in pre-licensure programs are unaware of the vast responsibilities of the professional nurse until they begin to learn in class. This misconception is due to the inconsistencies in which the professional nurse is portrayed in the media and on television.

Until I became a licensed nurse, I never bother about the scope of Nursing practice. After I know my professional roles, responsibilities, and duties, I realized the importance of scope of practice within my profession. It is more than that of working with an adequate knowledge and skills. It is not like other employees, the nurse has to work with the professional license under the certifying body. The scope of practice helps her to retain in the professional work otherwise she will lose her job, or getting revoked for the license.
One must trust and dedicated to the professional standards, guidelines, and principles. Registered Nurse should get comprehensive support from the organization, colleagues and from the legislature. The scope of practice helps the professional nurse to work with ethical principles and to take correct decisions during ethical dilemmas.It is important for nurses to provide excellence in the client care. All nurses should support one another in some ways for the autonomy and expanded the practice.
Many misconceptions and stereotypes can be heard in everyday life of nurses. People usually believe that nurses are just helpers and don't have any independent roles.They also think nursing is only feminine hold profession. Most of them underestimate the abilities of nurses. Although the media makes negative perception about nurses. Many scenarios create the look of nursing is a dirty profession. For Example, drawing of blood, wound cleaning, providing bedpan, and contact with the contaminated body fluids.
In the modern era, Most of them witnessed the nurses with stereotypes. Many misconceptions about nursing profession are passing over years. Nurses are whom more than that of what we seeing. It is one of the good perfect profession. One can realize after experiencing holistic care from nurses.
