1.Nursing is aprofession which is continually in touch with other people. This makes it more important for the nurses to respect other individuals. Nursing code of ethics define respect of human dignity as respecting every individuals rights and freedom. It states treating everyone with courtesy, respect and in a dignified manner. It also includes respecting one’s decisions and privacy.

2. It is important in nursing as nursing profession demands regular interaction with people. This makes it important to respect the human dignity. This will improve patient’s interaction and help in recording the right complains, mediacal history and treatment planning. This will ultimately improve the patient care services and treatment efficacy.

3. Franciscan value states that “a regard and respect for all life and all humankind, all races and beliefs as children of God. It emphasises to show a reverence for life of all forms including human life. Dignity and respect for all and support to everybody is required.
