Video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is minimaly invasive surgical techniques.

the camera used for this procedure known as thoracoscope .

camera and surgical instruments inserted into chesyt through some incisions .the thoracoscope tranmits images onto a monitor.

used for - biopsy(taking a sample of tissues for microscopic examination) of lung tissues to rule out cancer

surgery to treat lung cancer

surgery to treat excess sweating (hyperhydrosis )

to remove part or all of esophagus (esophagectomy)

hiatus hernia repair (bulging of part of stomach into the esophagus)

thymus gland removal (thymectomy )

complications - bleeding , nerve damages , damages to nearby orgons . anaesthesis effects

before doing the ptrocedure , assess the respiratory and cardiac function using investigations.

this procedure done under general anesthesia , using one tube passed into the airway (intubation )
( that means the patient is unaware of the events occuring at the time of surgery ,)

results of this surgery , compared with traditional open surgery , typically less pain , fewer complications , less time for recovary.
