Many "course and instructor evaluation" systems consist of inappropriate or ineffective measurements. Discuss how the principles in this chapter can be used to develop an effective measurement system for instructor performance.
Many "course and instructor evaluation" systems consist of inappropriate or ineffective measurements. The reason for this is -
1) Lack of feedback or input from students
2) No student performance evaluation to make room for
improvements.
3) No consideration of the tasks or objectives of the course or
department.
4) Lack of validity and reliability being statistically
provided.
All these reasons lead to less focus on improving performance based
on evaluations.
The following are the principles used in developing an effective measurement system for instructor performance-
1) A measurement system should mainly focus on the significant variables which relate to performance.
2) An effective measurement should concern largely on the key area on the evaluation of the course or instructor.
3) Feedback from students of the teacher's ability to convey and communicate effectively.
4) A flexible system in place to adapt to the changing environment and strategies.
