Do you think different types of life traumas -- for example, loss of a job, death of a spouse, divorce, or a major health problem -- would prompt a person to refocus on different previous developmental solutions? Please describe solutions that you believe a person in middle adulthood would use to cope with traumas, and factors that might influence how well or how poorly the person copes.
Stressful events are a part and a parcel of life which are inevitable. However, people handle stress and traumas differently as not everybody is the same. Some people have a higher threshold for emotions, which means that they are capable of handling their emotions better which makes them emotionally stable. A personal with high emotional stability would cope with stress by directing their energy to more productive things in life, focusing on the positives instead of highly stressing over the negatives. They may enroll themselves for therapy as a form of catharsis. On the other hand, people with low emotional stability tend to fall prey to stress and are often found to be suicidal. Other factors like close knit bonds, with family and friends also makes a major difference in how a person interprets stress and trauma. Family and friends facilitate positivity and vibes which keeps a person going.
