Find information on:
1. albuterol
2. warfarin
3. morphine
4. chlorophyll a
To get full credit (4 pts) you must:
1. Give molecular formula and structure
2. Propose a reaction (1 rxn) that could synthesize the molecule
from a
closely related structure (i.e., work backward 1 step).
3. Propose a reaction (1 rxn) that could transform the molecule
into a
new compound.
4. Identify the molecule’s importance and/or application
Dear Friend your answer is
4. Molecule's Importance
1.Salbutamol, also known as albuterol. It is used to treat asthma, exercise-induced bronchospasm, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
2. Warfarin, also known by the brand names Coumadin among others, is an anticoagulant normally used in the prevention of thrombosis and thromboembolism, the formation of blood clots in the blood vessels and their migration elsewhere in the body, respectively.
3. Morphine, sold under many trade names, is a pain medication of the opiate type. It acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to decrease the feeling of pain. It can be used for both acute pain and chronic pain.
4. Chlorophyll a is a specific form of chlorophyll used in oxygenic photosynthesis. It absorbs most energy from wavelengths of violet-blue and orange-red light. It also reflects green/yellow light, and as such contributes to the observed green color of most plants. This photosynthetic pigment is essential for photosynthesis in eukaryotes, cyanobacteria and prochlorophytes because of its role as primary electron donor in the electron transport chain.
