Cloud Infrastructure is similar to the physical IT infrastructure of any company with the only difference being that it is accessible via the internet and can't be seen in front of our eyes. This model of providing capability to organizations to create their infrastructure on cloud is called IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) Model.
A typical Cloud Infrastructure would include the servers (computing units), storage clusters and networks. The advantage of using the cloud infrastructure is that there is no upfront cost. The organizations can choose from a list of wide variety of resources the the cloud provider has to offer and it works on the pay-as-you-go model, that means you only pay for the resources according to your usage. In a way, the cloud providers rent you their resources to use.
Other advantages include flexibility and scalability. You can easily change your infrastructure anytime you wish to or scale it up and down as per the current demand without worrying much about the costs.
Unlike physical infrastructure, organizations can very easily have their cloud infrastructure spread across the world to cater to various different needs. Along with this, the cloud providers also provide guarantee of the availability and security of the infrastructure to some extent. Operating on cloud infrastructure allows organizations to focus on their core business idea.
