Expert Solution

Before Moving to know the relation of lifestyle and cancer, we must know what actually is Cancer.

Like all other systems in world, living organisms also have one programmed structure which is responsible for all functions in living organism.
Now when it comes to human body, it is made of trillions of cells and each cell has programmed structure which has all codes for functioning, those programmed structures are Known as DNA.
This DNA contains genes which actually give code for each body function.
So mutation is a changes in DNA which causes changes in body functioning.

Cancer :It is a disease in which abnormal growth of cells occur which is uncontrollable by human body and those cells invades near by tissues and also spread to other parts of the body.
so this occurs when some substance changes DNA Coding function and instead of dividing cell when needed it starts replicating cells without any break.
This changes is due to Mutation in DNA.
Now if mutated genes are present in parents then all chances are there that their offspring may get inherited with those mutated genes and these genes may express cancer like situation at any point of life.

If mutated genes are not inherited then other reason for mutation and cancer is by acquiring mutations during life time due to either natural mutations or mutations due to other mutagenic substances.

How life style choice develops Cancer

1) Smoking:
Each puff of cigarette contains Tobacco leaves. Tobacco leaves belongs to Nicotiana genus and solanaceae Family.
It contains Nicotine and many other chemical substances. Most of these substances are carcinogenic. Some of these substances need activation which is done by cigarette smoke.
As per some research papers, smoking not only cause Lungs cancer but also causes 16 other types of cancers
Listed below

  • Lungs Cancer
  • Cancers of the mouth, throat, nose and sinuses
  • Cancers of the oesophagus
  • Cancers of the bladder, kidney and ureter
  • Cancer of the pancreas
  • Cancer of the stomach
  • Cancer of the liver
  • Cancer of the cervix and ovary
  • colorectal cancer
  • Acute myeloid leukaemia.

2) High cholesterol diet
Cholesterol is a fatty or waxy substances useful for Vitamin D formation and many thing. But bad cholesterol and excess of cholesterol causes blocking of arteries and absorption of many substances and also interrupt enzymes(Hormones).
Excess cholesterol leads to obesity which damages hormones function like thyroid, ovarian hormones, and many other hormones.
Certain hormone's Improper functioning causes enhance development of cancer cells.

Cancer is a genetic disease that arises due mutations in growth promoting genes (oncogenes) and in growth suppressing genes (tumor suppressor genes). Mutations in oncogenes that can lead to cancer are gain-of-function mutations that result in the constitutive activation of the proteins encoded by these genes. An example of such a gene is Ras, a gene mutated in over 90% of pancreatic cancers. When mutated, the Ras signaling is constitutively active, leading to uncontrolled cell growth. Tumor suppressor genes encode...
