For the variables, HOME, ARREST, TENURE and SIBS, identify the correct measure of dispersion and explain why it is appropriate. Locate the values for the measure on the tables and report them for each variable.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The variable of HOME, the correct mrasure of dispersion would be the range. This is due to the simple fact of it is a nominal scale measurement of central tendency and it cannot be partially ordered.

We are giving a range of 10, with 0 to 10. Due to the frequency difference being high for these numbers would be easiest way ti measure.

The variable ARREST, the measurement of dispersion would be the range or index of dispersion because of the large differences between the highest and lowest frequencies.

Standard deviation could also be useful for the variable arrest. The variable TENURE, the best measure of dispersion would be the index of dispersion. There is a large number of values. The values are between 7 to 240.

The variable SIBS, the best measure of dispersion would be the index of dispersion due ti the large differences in frequencies. The values range any where between 0 to 15 in this part.
