For four variables, HOME, ARRESTS, TENURE, and SIBLINGS. These results are the basis for the following questions: For each of the four variables listed above, identify the level of measurement (nominal, ordinal, interval, or ratio) for each and explain how you reached this conclusion.
I believe that the level of measurement for Home would be ordinal. the sequence of numbers is meaningful, but not the distance between them. e.g. house numbers on a street.
I believe that the level of measurement for arrest would be ordinal. the arrest is an attribute that can be rank-ordered. There are steps to getting arrested. There must first be a reason for an officer to come in contact with you, a crime has been committed. Second, if the officer believes that you are guilty of a crime that warrants an arrest. They will then take you into custody. This will include handcuffing you and placing you into their patrol car. Once they have you in their custody they will read you your Miranda rights and then ask you questions about the crime. An arrest is a step that is taken. There is an order that they must follow. They cannot just arrest you there have to be steps taken to get to that point. It cannot be a nominal value because it has no mathematical interpretation.
I believe that the level of measurement for tenure would be an interval.
and level of measurement for siblings would be a Nominal because of nominal means Unordered categorical variables. These can be either binary (only two categories, like gender: male or female) or multinomial (more than two categories, like marital status: married, divorced, never married, widowed, separated). The key thing here is that there is no logical order to the categories.
