The paper and the people involved regarding the publish of the support provided for the proposed constitution called themselves as the federalists. Their name which was adopted implied a commitment towards the decentralised, loose system of government.
Federalists are considered important because:
1. For them, the Constitution was essential in regard to safeguard the independence and liberty that the American Revolution had created. They played a role as defending the social gains of the revolution while developing a new politacn philosophy regarding the working of the government.
2. They challenged the belief that the people were having and claimed a result that a strong national republic would be better preserving the individual liberties of the citizens.
3. They also wanted to preserve the structure and sovereignty of the states. To perform the same task, rhey advocated that the federal government should be more specific with the delegated powers.
